Mason Evans is thrilled to announce its participation in North Lanarkshire's innovative Student Summer Placement Programme. We warmly welcome Erin Maguire as she embarks on her summer internship with us. This programme, which provides over 100 young people from across North Lanarkshire the opportunity to earn money and gain vital work experience during their school holidays, is a reflection of our dedication to nurturing local talent.
The Student Summer Placement Programme, part of the council's One Workforce Plan and Brighter Futures Programme, will see 128 students from local high schools, priority groups, and New College Lanarkshire gaining hands-on experience in a variety of employment sectors. This initiative builds on the success of last year's pilot programme, which saw significant positive outcomes for participating students.
This year, student placements span key industries, including the Built Environment, Health & Social Care, and Digital Technology. Notably, 22 students will work with external construction companies, and four will collaborate with NHS Lanarkshire. Among these participants, Mason Evans is proud to have Erin Maguire join the team.
"We are delighted to welcome Erin to our summer internship programme," said Patrick Barry, Managing Director at Mason Evans. "Her enthusiasm and dedication align perfectly with our company ethos, and we are confident that Erin will have a rewarding and insightful experience with us."
In an article on the council's website, Fiona Whittaker, Chief Officer (of People Resources), emphasised the programme's success and the council's commitment to investing in the next-generation workforce.
"Investing in our next-generation workforce is a key priority for the council and is crucial to building a strong, vibrant working population to support North Lanarkshire's growing economy," she stated. We believe in fostering a positive introduction to the world of work, teaching essential skills, and encouraging teamwork."
Erin Maguire will work closely with experienced professionals at Mason Evans, gaining practical knowledge and skills that will be invaluable for her future career. The team at Mason Evans is eager to provide guidance and support, ensuring that Erin's time with the company is productive and inspiring.
"We believe that internships are a crucial step in shaping the careers of young professionals," added Patrick. "We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and fresh perspectives that Erin will bring to our team."
The Student Summer Placement Programme aims to prepare students for future employment and address workforce challenges in traditionally hard-to-recruit areas. At the end of the programme, a special awards ceremony will recognise the achievements and contributions of the participating students as they prepare to return to school or further education.
